In the past several days, I entered sequoia national forest, then sequoia national park, camped and splashed in alpine lakes that sit at elevations higher than the the summit of the tallest mountain in my home state, climbed to the top of the tallest mountain in the lower 48, climbed the highest point of the PCT at forester pass, then descended into kings canyon national park, and finally climbed out of the Sierra at Kearsarge pass to resupply in Bishop. It took two hitches. One with a trail angel to get to independence, then a 40 miler with two rock climbers who were on their way to Tahoe to go sky diving with one of their 70 yr. old mothers for her birthday.
